As we have done many many estate sales over the past five years, one thing (although we have learned many), is how attached our clients can get to their parent's things. The rule of them that we try to instill to them is this: if you are going to take a piece of furniture, a knick knack or something of value from the home, make sure that you have a place for it in your home. Do not put it in the basement or a garage or even a storage unit. You should be able to enjoy it, look at it, chat about it and with putting it one of those places you are doing the exact opposite of what it should do for you; give you pleasure and put a smile on your face.
